When I was in grade school, I remember sitting at the kitchen counter on Sunday night, and my mom going through the week’s hot lunch menu.
“Salisbury Steak?” “No!”
“Chicken Patty on Bun?” “I Guess.”
“Grilled Cheese?” “Yes! Yes!”

The oven produces a crunchy crust perfect for dipping in soup. Whip up this classic sandwich tonight. Simple and delicious.
What you need:
White Bread (I used a cottage style white bread)
American Cheese (I used Kraft Singles)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Butter one side of each piece of bread.
Then place a piece of bread, butter side down. Add a piece of cheese. Then place another piece of bread on top of cheese, butter side up. Place sandwiches on a baking sheet and put them in the oven.
Bake for 15 to 16 minutes then flip sandwiches. Bake another 10 to 15 minutes on the other side, or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and serve with soup.
