The weather in Illinois is becoming chilly. Temperatures are dropping and flurries will soon be filling the air (no joke, today it’s supposed to snow). Everything seems to slow down this time of year before the holidays, the busy summer is becoming a distant memory, and its time to flip on your favorite TV program and relax with your family. All that relaxing can make one hungry, so I thought I would share an easy recipe for a tasty, munchy, snack. This puppy chow recipe came from my Grandma Senica (my Dad’s mom). It pleases the palate of both adults and kids. The combination of chocolate and peanut butter make this an addicting snack, try to just eat a handful.
What you will need:
8 cups Crispix Cereal
1/2 cup Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup Butterscotch Chips
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 to 1 and 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
First melt chocolate chips and butterscotch chips in a sauce pan, over medium low heat, stirring continuously. You do not want to over cook it at this stage because it will become hard, if it is a little lumpy that is ok.
Add peanut butter and stir thoroughly making sure chips are melted.
Pour peanut butter and chocolate mixture over Crispix cereal. Stir until thoroughly mixed and cool.
Once cool, sprinkle powdered sugar over the ooey, gooey, chocolatey cereal. Dig in!
